I slept in past 6:30am for the first time in 13 days today. This was a much needed escape from what's been going on in my work-life for the past week-plus. Well, the short story is that the bank where I have worked for the past nearly-four years was taken over by the FDIC and they appointed another bank as receiver. I ended up working 17 hours over the weekend and from the office on Monday (when I typically work from home). Of course, the future is very ambiguous for me and the bulk of my co-workers, so of course, added to my physical tiredness, there is also a healthy dose of emotional tiredness.
It's hard to say goodbye to an experience to which you were given so many opportunities to shine and to grow. (Admittedly, there were also many opportunities to be frustrated and pissed off!) What I loved about my job was my situation - my ability to work from home at least one day a week, if not more. Co-workers and a boss who gave me a lot of daily laughter and joy. Working 3 miles from home and for a local organization who supported my local community.
So - I don't know what things will look like for me in 1 week, 1 month, 1 year. Perhaps they will look quite the same, but just operating under a different name. More likely, they will look quite different...and perhaps I'll be "forced" into making a decision that I've been dreaming about for years! Overall, this change gives me a lot of excitement and some renewed energy about what the future could look like!
Now, you know that I feel like a blog post is ALWAYS better with a photo...well, since I disappeared for a while with the whole bank-takeover situation, I'll do better than photos...how about some SILAS VIDEOS!!! I have a ton of little videos to share, but since our internet is broken, they each take about an hour to upload, so I'm gonna keep it to two videos now...but if you want more, let me know and I will be happy to post them (slowly, but surely!).
(P.S. Somehow I got three videos condensed into one - so just watch the second one and you'll see more!)
LOVE to you all!

Katie - Love your little man. He is such a cutie.
I wish you luck with the Bank situation, I can imagine how hard it is. Hopefully things will work out well; all of you girls have been in my thoughts a lot lately.
So I am really curious about this decision you speak of...what exactly do you mean? Hmmm...my mind is just racing with the possibilities!
All excitement aside, it must be very stressful for you, and 17 hours over a weekend sounds like crap.
Silas is so so tall and lean and active! I wonder what it's like to have a boy? It would sure be nice to find out!
