Crafts: Kelly's Coffee Cozy

Tomorrow evening we are going to our friend Kelly's 30th birthday party, so I made a little personalized coffee cozy for her.

What is a coffee cozy? It's the little cardboard glove that they give you so you don't burn your hands on your hot coffee/tea/latte/americano/cappucino/etc. But instead of a cardboard version, I made a re-useable version. This was my very first attempt at such a project and I love the result! I'm taking a break from the Silas blog posts (though I have a few adorable videos that I really want to post...but I'll save them for tomorrow) and instead, give you a glimpse at my little crafty project of the day.

The finished product - not on a cup!

The final product stretched out - the elastic band on the left connects to the red button on the right. It's adjustable to different size cups this way!

The cozy being modeled on my my old Starbucks cup from earlier this weekend! (Notice the black X in the "Decaf" box at the top left!?!?!?)

And finally, a view of the button/elastic closure in action.

I also finished another adorable project last night, but it's a surprise gift for a regular blog-reader, so I won't post the image until s/he gets the little present in the mail. I will try to get to the post office ASAP!

I'm so proud, that looks awesome! I would buy one if my name was Kelly. Now I have to try to make my burp cloths look that cute, ekk!

Good job! You should start selling them. I would totally buy one. I would also buy your baby! :)

What? That is totally rad! Did you do the lettering on a machine? I think that's a fantastic idea, and she'll love it.
