What a Difference 365 Days Can Make!

Based on our calculations, it was roughly 365 days ago that Grovie (now know as Silas) was lovingly created! There have been so many times in my life when I feel like time is playing tricks on me...One year ago doesn't seem THAT long ago. But when I think back to when my only babies were Ollie and Nell, when running to the grocery store didn't include a pre-trip diaper change, diaper-bag content check, loading of a little human into the carseat, lugging the impossibly heavy carseat/child to the car, heaving the impossibly heave carseat/child into the back seat, etc........suddenly a year ago seems sooooo far in the past. One year ago, I was sleeping long hours, working 40 hours a week, had no concept of what bedrest really meant, had no idea what fear of losing a baby felt like, and not even an ounce of an idea of how overwhelmingly wonderful it would feel to become a mom.

Here's a quick comparison of our life as of May 8 , 2008 to May 8, 2009:

My youngest baby was Nell:

And Ollie only had to compete with a sister, not a brother too! Can you tell how happy Ollie was back then? I swear he smiles for the camera! (And Ollie, we apologize for the crazy haircut you had last year!)

A year ago, I was holding one of these:

And now, I get to hold one of these, instead!

A year ago, Jonathan held this guy like a baby:

And now, he gets to hold this guy instead:

MMMWAHH HA HA!
Seriously, I cannot believe that happened at our wedding. No worries, I was too enraptured with my groom to think about anything else. Also, Jonathan had to compete with my SCREAMING nephew (whose parents/grandparents couldn't figure out that it's better to miss a wedding and take the kid outside than to totally disrupt it with your wailing child). Also, I cannot count the number of times I laugh inappropriately during Mass. Probably once every time we go. I think I kind of enjoy it...contributes to my secret bad girl.
I love the pic of J holding your dog like that. What a good man...unafraid of slobber and hair and dirt. What is that delicious concoction in the picture? I am almost allowed to drink alcohol again for the first time in over 2 years. I should probably make it something great, right? And as you know, it'll be the only thing I'll drink for the next..oh...year or so. Fill me in!
