Sweet Silas - here we are again - a month older and a month cuter!
This has been quite a big month for you, full of so many adventures...where do we even start?
First, let's talk about your words. You are picking up a few new words here and there. The newest are "all gone!" and "water" and "yeah." These are pronounced more like "ahhh gaaaahn" "whaaay" and "yahhhhh." But don't worry, we understand you! :) Even when you don't use words, you are very communicative. Your use of whining is quite outstanding as well!
We took a great trip together and visited Eileen in Washington, DC, went to Mark & Hannah's wedding in Pennsylvania, followed up by having fun with Boma & Granddaddy in Virginia. You were a super traveler and had so much fun at all of our destinations.
The biggest news this month is that you have started going to day care. You did two short days - 3 hours each - to get used to the idea...then last week you went ALL DAY, EVERY DAY from Monday-Friday. I love to brag about you - the Miss Dawn said that in the 24 years she's been in the industry, she hasn't met a kid who's adapted to day care so quickly and happily as you. This makes me happy for so many reasons. First, it's hard to drop you off in the morning and know that someone else is spending the bulk of the day with you. It's good to know that you're having fun when your dad and I are at work. Second, you haven't had the chance to spend much time with other toddlers. It's wonderful that you are learning to make friends, share and cooperate and have fun with other little kids. I know it's time that learning new social skills, playing and creating, and having the chance to play with others is important. You are such a social little character that giving you the chance to be with lots of kids is the right choice for you. You are learning to take naps in a room with other kids, you are playing with bubbles and balls and kiddos and markers. It's only been a week since you've started day care, but I know you are going to love it! (You did bring home a nasty cough and runny nose on Thursday - you and I are both suffering from it together now...that's the #1 downside of this new situation - other kids = other germs!)
We have enjoyed spending lots of time outside with you - both here in Tacoma and when we were traveling. You really have enjoyed little kiddie pools and like splashing around in the buff. You got so blond and tan this summer! You are healthy and happy and busy as a bee. Oh, speaking of bees - you got your first bee sting in Virginia - right between your big toe and second toe. You must have stepped right on that bee. Now we know you aren't allergic to stings!
You have just been a whirlwind of fun lately. You don't sit still for long - but when you do, you are often sitting on our laps, coming up for a brief, but wonderful snuggle. You have fun pointing out your nose, ears, hair and tongue. You love pointing to your shoes and yelling "SHOES" when you want them put on your feet. You've outgrown every pair of pants - they are all way too short for you now, so we had to buy you a few new pairs.
You are the source of so much joy in our lives - we love every little bit of you.
