Silas - you are a silly ball of fun! You've just been a pure joy to be around this month - so active, entertaining, playful and even cuddly.
We've made it through your first full month of daycare and I think we are all loving it! The only tough part is that you are clingy when we carry you into the toddler room and try to set you down on the floor...you cry about 50% of the time when we leave, but the teachers are always reassuring us that you'll be totally content in a matter of minutes. One of the biggest benefits of daycare has been getting us all on a pretty regular schedule. Before you started, we kept to a somewhat consistent schedule, but now things just seem to fall into place more routinely. We get up and ready for work around 7am...then we get you up around 8am if you haven't already woken up...we get you dressed and all of us into the car by about 8:15am...drop you off at daycare a few minutes later...then your dad drops me off at work by about 8:30am and gets himself to work by 9am. Then he leaves work at 5pm, picks me up from work at 5:30pm, then we pick you up from school and all get home by 6pm. Then we make dinner. Then we play and take a bath. And you are usually asleep and in bed by about 8pm. The weekends work the same, but we just include a good nap from 12pm-2pm. It's nice to have this routine now that your dad's work has started up again after the summer break. Luckily, you are very flexible and when life happens and we're out having fun, you're not bothered by a change in this new schedule.
I've noticed that you seem much hungrier in the evenings after daycare - you can really pack in a big dinner!!! You still very much insist on feeding yourself and are pretty good with the fork and spoon...though sometimes you simply prefer your hands! You're still drinking from a sippy cup, though you really want to drink from a normal cup. It usually goes well the first few sips, but then you throw the whole thing back and drench yourself.
Your language has continued to develop this month. Your newest words are: "Peash!" (please), Down, Ball, "Beeshee" (I think a combo between Paci and Binkie?), "Si-lish" (Silas), "Ahh-eee" (Ollie), Bubbles and Socks...and something that kinda sounds like and means "Thank You." These are all in addition to words you've been saying a bit longer, like Shoes, Daddy, "Kee-Tee" (Katie!?!?! why???), Dog/Doggy and Hi.
We spend a lot of time at local parks going down slides and climbing up the different structures. I try to take you to different parks to keep it interesting for both of us! We also go to the playground at the mall when it's raining out to help you burn energy. You like going to the zoo when we have a little extra time to play outside. Bath time is a favorite of yours - pouring water from one cup into another, or filling a cup from the faucet are the most fun. Splashing your poor mom is also great fun...though getting you out of the tub and into your jammies is never fun - lots of tears and fighting me over that. You also like to fight me over sitting in the front of shopping carts - your preference is to have me hold you while you push; however, my arms get too tired, too fast!
You're a tall, slender, blondish, healthy boy and you are just too cute...you have the most adorable face and your voice is really cute. People comment on how beautiful you are on a regular basis - and I totally agree. You are so good-natured and playful - I love all the time we get to spend together playing, snuggling, giving kisses and making fun noises together. I love the way you've learned to say your name recently - you are so proud when you shout "Silish!" I'm proud of you, too. We love you so very much!
