Happy 25 Months!

Can I keep wishing you Happy "Monthly" birthdays anymore now that you're two? I think 24 months is the end of recording your kiddo's age that way and I just need to call you a 2 year old. But for the sake of pretending you're still a baby...well...Happy 25 months!

This past month was a significantly healthier month for you than the past few! No colds, no pneumonia, just a drippy nose...considering you're in daycare with a bunch of other snotty-nosed kids throughout the cold, wet, grey Tacoma winter, we're happy that a drippy nose is all we have to deal with. You had your 2 year well-child check up this month and you are officially a healthy boy. You weighed about 28.5 pounds, you're 36" tall (3 FEET - that's more than half my height!). You're in the 5oth percentile for weight, 70th percentile for height, and your noggin' remains at the 90% percentile in size. What can I say, you've got a big brain!

Your personality continues to shine each month. You have turned into a little joker lately and laugh a lot. Your obsession with trains (particularly Thomas) has not subsided since Christmas. You now have at least 4 train sets and play with all of them regularly. You love your Lego train set (with the 'Ductor, Baby and Grandma), the train that makes monkey & elephant noises, the Thomas the Tank Engine train set, and the wooden train set that you pull by a string (that no longer makes noise since you smashed it with a hammer). I'm sure there's another 2 or 3 that I'm missing, too! You make some great train noises (CHOO! CHOO! and Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding). You got a baby doll this month and like to put a little blanket on it. You also love your kitty cat stuffed animal and take it around the house with you. And of course, your absolute favorite item is still your binkie!

Your language has continued to develop and you're really stringing words together well. You're very good at letting us know what you want - typically you want fish (goldfish), a nana (banana), mulk (milk), sit down! (to mommy, daddy or the dogs), help!, no, I read it! (about every book), Thomas Book! Thomas Book!, and your most recent favorite request, "TREAT please!" (you love chocolate as much as your mom - good boy!)

It's been really quite cold and wet lately, so we've been stuck inside most of the time. Like I mentioned before, we mostly play with trains and read books about trains and watch online videos about trains. Maybe you can diversify your interests this next month (please!), okay! You're a great helper at school and bring home lots of artwork - you are terrific at drawing circles/spirals and gluing foam shapes to paper. We send lots of artwork to your grandparents to admire. You love to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (but it's more like "Bingle Bingle") and the "Clean Up, Clean Up" song (but more like (Beeeeng Up! Beeeeng Up!). Bath time is lots of fun - except for washing your hair, which you really dislike. You have learned how to scoop up a handful of bubbles and blow hard to send them flying. You have also learned how to splash hard enough to send water cascading all over your mommy! After bathtime, you like to get wrapped up in a towel and we pretend you're a baby. You like to look at the "baby" in the mirror! No more updates on potty training yet - you like to say "I GO POOPY" but it doesn't really mean a whole lot. You like to sit on the potty, but no action is taking place. (You did pass gas and got really excited...you looked in the potty, and when you found it to be empty, you started searching for a poop saying "Where'd it go? WHERE'D IT GO?" Very sad and cute at the same time!)

I love you, my little baby bear! You're a terrific little guy and we're proud to be your parents!
