It's hard to believe, but today - February 4 - is my official due date! Knowing that he is healthy, I am so thankful that I've been able to enjoy and love Silas for a few extra weeks than I would have if he made it all the way to 40 weeks. I'm also thankful for a few week's smaller head circumference!
Silas is becoming more wakeful and alert these days. He now wakes himself up when he's ready to eat. His big eyes are open more often. I think he's going to be like me - someone who looks around and spends a lot of time thinking about things before spouting an opinion. Of course, I'm just guessing, but when I see him look around, it seems like he's just trying to take it all in before trying to form an opinion on anything. Or maybe he's just exercising his eye muscles! Who knows!
We took Si for his first walk around the neighborhood today in the Baby Bjorn that Mike gave us for Christmas. (We're still waiting on an adapter piece to be able to attach our car seat to our stroller...) After Jonathan strapped Si into the Baby Bjorn, we delivered thank you notes to all our book club neighbors for the surprise shower they threw last week. We walked to Blockbuster and returned Lions for Lambs (great movie, by the way) and rented Vicky Christina Barcelona (any good?). We also ran into 3 sets of neighbors along the way and got to introduce Silas to a few more friends. We all sucked in the last bit of surprise sunshine and warmth...rain is supposed to return tomorrow.
So - Happy Due Date! And Ollie's 4th Birthday was on Monday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the original baby, Ollie, as well!

Love the Baby Bjorn! And how cool are you for having neighbors that speak to one another? Kinda jealous over here!! My neighbors are people whom I avoid eye contact with.
