Happy 6 Months, Asa!

Happy Half Birthday, beautiful boy!  You are just the greatest treat to have come into our lives!

The best part of the last month has been watching the relationship between you and your brother blossom.  The two of you adore one another and it's a pretty beautiful thing to watch!  Every morning when Silas wakes up, he asks to have you brought into his room.  We place you on your brother's bed and he talks to you ("Hi Brother!") and you gaze back at him and smile!  I hope you both will enjoy each other's company for years and years and years!  Silas loves to call you by your nickname, Asa-Basa-Boo-Boo-Bear!

At your 6 month doctor's appointment (on 6.28.12), you weighed 20 pounds, 11 ounces and were 28 inches long.  It appears that your crazy growing spurt has slowed down - thank goodness - I can barely carry you in your infant car seat any longer, but not ready to move you to a bigger car seat yet.  You may be a big boy, but you are still my BABY!  Your dad took you to the doctor for this month's well-baby check up and he said you did great - panicked for a moment when you got 3 shots, but otherwise, as happy and healthy as ever.

Sleeping is getting better...not ideal, but better.  These days you fall asleep around 8:00pm and sleep until about midnight.  Then you have a snack and then sleep again until about 4:00am...I'll bring you from the pack 'n play next to my bed, directly into my bed, and you'll usually fall back asleep until 6:00am or so.  You take a nice morning nap for dad...and another in the afternoon.  All the while, your momma is at work, while you and your dad spend good time together.  Now that the weather is starting to get nice, you lay outside on a blanket with your dad pretty frequently.

Over that past few weeks we've tried to feed you solid food (rice cereal, sweet potato and sweet peas) multiple times...You seem really interested, but once the food hits your lips, you blow it out, spraying the food everywhere - and none getting into your belly.  Oh well - keep trying!

In the past month, you had some wonderful time with your Boma, Granddaddy, Uncle Stephen and his girlfriend Cat.  They came for a visit and you got lots of snuggles from everyone, until they all left to go to Montana to move Uncle Philip and soon-to-be Aunt Alicia back to Virginia.  Sadly, your great-granddaddy passed away this month...we knew he was sick, but had really hoped you and he would have had the chance to meet one another.  You are his fourth great-grandchild and he would have just loved you to pieces.

Next month holds more adventures for our family - and you'll be right there with us to celebrate it all!  We love you, Asa!
