WOO HOO! I hit the next milestone of 32 weeks! Looking back 9 weeks ago when I was in the hospital, I didn't think I'd make it this far. There was a calendar hanging on the bulletin board with the month of October. Each day seemed like a month. Looking at the days move by one-by-one was challenging. October 8. October 9. October 10. October 11. October 12. October 13. October 14. October 15. October 16. But now we're at December 10!!! Luckily the days haven't felt quite as long since then.
The doctors had told me there were 4 big milestones that we were going to try to hit.
The first was to get to 24 weeks, to move to 50% viability. CHECK!
The second was to get to 28 weeks, to move to 80% viability. CHECK!
The third was to get to 32 weeks, to move to 90% viability. CHECK!!!!!
The fourth is to get to 36 weeks, off bed rest, and they won't stop labor from 36 weeks on.
Hey, three out of four isn't too shabby...and I have true hope that we'll make it at least 4 more weeks to the next milestone. Officially, I only have 8 weeks left of this pregnancy, but there's real possibility that once I'm off bed rest, this little Grovie will be wanting to be born...which means, it's possible that I only have 4 weeks left. And that is one concept I'm unable to process. Mentally, I can handle a happy medium of 6 weeks...
I have a doc appointment this afternoon - very exciting, as I haven't been out of the house since Nov 26! I don't think the actual appointment will be too exciting, but just good to be up for an hour or so!
32 Weeks along and here's what's up with baby:
- Although Grovie will still remain active, his/her days of trying out for Cirque du Soleil are nearly over. About this time Grovie will settle into the head-down position in preparation for birth.
- Ever wonder what your Grovie is doing in there these days? S/He's busy blinking, looking around, grabbing things, making faces, practicing his breathing, peeing and listening to everything around him/her—pretty much exactly what s/he'll be doing for the first three months of his/her life.
- By the end of this week, Grovie will weigh about 4 pounds and be between 17 and 18 inches long.

wow - what a beautiful time it will be to hold your baby (girl) and think back on this time. You will be so glad that you worked so hard at making her.
