We had a cool doctor's appointment today. Unfortunately, my normal OB was stuck in Texas and her flight back to WA was cancelled due to our bad weather. So I had a different (yet great) doc today. My dad and Laurie accompanied Jonathan and me to the doctor's office. When I got called back, Jonathan and I followed the nurse to get weighed, etc. (I blame this week's major weight increase on my snowboots!!!) When she was taking my blood pressure, she asked if the "the man with the HUGE smile on his face in the waiting room" was my dad and if I wanted him to come back with us.
My dad and Laurie did come back with us and they were able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler. I think that will be the highlight of my dad's trip to Tacoma. I'm sure most grandfathers don't get to hear the baby's heartbeat before its born.
Grovie is measuring exactly at 34 weeks, heartbeat was 140 and Grovie is head-down. All great things!
Only bad news is that Philip's flight got cancelled this morning...and all flights from Great Falls to Tacoma are also cancelled tomorrow. And they only have one seat available on the flight on Christmas day. So Philip and some guy who was also stranded in Great Falls on his way to Tacoma just decided to drive to Tacoma. It's a 12 hour drive in good conditions...not sure how long it will take in the snowy passes from Montana to Idaho and into Washington and through the Cascades. I know that the airlines don't have any control over the weather, but it's so frustrating, because Philip was supposed to get here at 9:10am today, and now it'll be around midnight at the earliest.

Hurray for healthy baby Grovie. Your dad does have a huge smile, and I'm so glad it came in handy. Just picturing his smile makes me smile. I am sorry about Philip's travel woes, and I hope he makes it safely and on time. It must be crazy there with so much snow...it's kinda abnormal, right? In the 2 years we lived in WA, it snowed pretty hard only once, and by morning it was pretty much gone. At least you have great company to keep warm and dry with :) .
I can picture your dad grinning at the sound of his grandbaby's heartbeat, that's awesome! (Let me guess, the other grandparents were jealous?)
I'm glad that JDawg's mom is getting the blanket moving in the right direction. She has more skill than I have to put that together, and curtains.. WOW!
As long as I get to make something that goes in the room I'm happy!
