I'd like to get back in bed and start today all over again. I've been freaking myself out all day that I have the signs of preterm labor. Well, only one sign of preterm labor. After about 6 hours of hemming-and-hawing over it, I finally called Labor & Delivery and talked to them about what was going on. It was a reassuring conversation about not to worry yet and what to watch for and when to call back. I don't want to be the girl who cries wolf, and the woman I talked to did such a good job or reassuring me that they are available 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns. I know this is very vague post, but it's also very public blog! So anyway.........if I ever get pregnant again, I hope it will be a very different, less stressful version. Is that even possible?
I also freaked out about decorating the nursery today...and having the feeling of all these things I want to do, but don't have control over them. Do we want to paint? What color? All walls? Just an accent wall? Where to put the furniture? I'm really not even that concerned about what the nursery looks like, other than I want it to be a perfect little nursery for a perfect little baby. The freak out was probably more a symptom of my overall inability to control much of my life right now. It's hard to not be able to run to the store when you're hungry, or do a load of laundry when you don't have a clean sweatshirt, or run upstairs to grab the book you want to read. I know people don't mind helping me with anything I ask, but it's so frustrating to have to ask for everything. Wah, wah. I know, I know.
In about an hour-and-a-half we're having International Food Club - German Night at our house. There are three couples who get together monthly (well more often than that, but monthly for IFC) for awesome eating. We've had Irish Night, Jamaican Night, Indian Night, American Brunch, etc. Tonight is German Night featuring brats, red cabbage, spaetzle, pretzels, surprise dessert and beer. I'm going to drink a few tonight. I deserve it. (kidding.)
It'll be nice to have people to talk to tonight and get my mind off of Grovie and all the anxiety I've been having about things today. Fear and boredom made for a bad combo today.

YOU ARE TOTALLY NORMAL. Those people at the hospital are there to help YOU! And who wouldn't feel a little nutty by now? Honestly. I would be having freak outs once a week, at least.
I think it is super cool that you have those international dinner things. I am very, very jealous. I'll bet you all cook, huh. Heh, heh. Probably not in my lifetime.
Hope you are having a fantastic brat-filled German feast!
poor baby. I still have daily memories of wanting to call the doc and being too afraid. I "knew" what they'd say. Makes Blue crazy! and all this after doing it 2 times already. I really hope your body hangs in there longer for you. Just think, after the baby's born you can spend all your time making a cute nursery. Email me and let me know how work is going.
