The Task Mistress!!!

We have seriously been lacking photos on the blog lately. There is a reason for that - which I will explain later. However, I think it's important that we share a collective "AWWWWWWW" moment while looking at this picture of Nell. Can you imagine sleeping with your toes by your nose?

Ok, everyone say "awwwwwwwww!"

Alright, back to blogging. I'm feeling a little diva-like this weekend - and not in a good way. I don't support diva-ness in any way, shape or form. Rather than defining myself as a diva, I prefer the title Task Mistress (task master, but female). Earlier this week I created a massive to-do list that should carry us out until the end of the year. Listen peeps, I have nothing else to do. And I love lists.
I cannot actually perform the bulk of these tasks, so I have had to rally the troops and delegate. We're turning the office into Grovie's nursery. As of Friday, it was just a room with cream walls, filthy carpet, and filled with office furniture and baby furniture. And lots of junk. Now, a mere 48 hours later..........

1) Jonathan brought home paint samples for me to choose the PERFECT color scheme for the nursery. I was completely set on a tangerine orange color about a week ago - but have now committed to a robin's egg blue and chocolaty brown color scheme. No, this does not mean that we're having a boy. It just looks so good together, along with the nursery fabrics that we discussed earlier this month.

2) Jonathan purchased all of the painting supplies needed to start the paint job on his 2nd trip to Home Depot. While out, he also purchased EVERYTHING needed for our upcoming Thanksgiving meal - my mouth is WATERING at the thought. The $200 grocery bill does not make my mouth water...

3) Jonathan came home and primed one of the walls to be painted. This one specific wall was imperative, because my aunt and cousin are going to paint a little mural above the crib when they visit later this week from Virginia. The other three walls are still the original cream color that they have been since we moved into our house. But they will be primed and painted eventually as well.

4) Saturday morning, Rachelle came over with bags of unfinished wooden birdhouses. These will be painted and used as part of the baby bird decorating in the nursery. Then she stood back and watched while Jonathan and I had a little "tiff" over the height of the chair rail - 36" or 48". We finalized the decision at 48" in case you care.

5) Rachelle and Jonathan then painted the top half of the imperative wall (in the blue color - Mayflower Blue, to be exact! Eventually, the bottom half will be Toffee Crunch. White chair rail will go between the two.)

6) Later in the evening, Jonathan painted the second coat of blue. Then he cleaned like a maniac around the entire main level of the house.

7) This morning, Jonathan got up, moved all of the office/baby furniture out of the room and into the living room. Then vacuumed the office/nursery like a maniac, per Mindy's instructions.

8) Mindy came over with her handy-dandy-carpet-shampooer and spent hours turning our dingy carpet into sparkling carpet. It actually sparkles. Did you even know it's possible for carpet to do that? Shimmering like fresh snow. Glittery white! (ok, I'm being overdramatic, but it looks spectacular and I can't thank Mindy enough for her time and muscle power!!!)

9) Now the carpet is finishing drying, all laundry is done, sheets have been washed and replaced on bed, Jonathan vacuumed the entire upstairs - including the staircase (this is a RARE occurrence), the dishwasher is currently churning, and I'm sure 100 other things have happened that I don't even know about yet.

Does it scare you that all of this only knocked off a couple items on the major to-do list??? Are you glad you live somewhere other than with me right now???

And if you've read all the way through this, you have probably figured out that I can't upload any other photos for you on this post because the entire office is still in the living room - and the computer with all the pictures is not plugged in. That was a long story just to explain why there are no recent photos.

Anyway, welcome to the minutiae of my life. Thanks, as always, to Jonathan, Rachelle and Mindy!!!

Yea for getting all that done this weekend. I hope you add this to the list you are making for JDawg.

I'll be over in the next few days with pie and hopefully some other goodies for you.

Sorry we didn't come by yesterday, I forgot and then remembered today and called you, and you didn't pick up. WAHH! :(

Hooray for sparkling carpet!

Katie,
Grace and I made package bows from old Vogue magazines. ALL WEEKEND long! Thanks for the suggestion; she loved it!
Hang in there! You sound very happy (and emotionally stable) notwithstanding the bedrest, etc.

Whoa! I guess Grace is kind of a normal name, eh? I am so pleased...at least the teachers will know how to pronounce my CHILD'S name. I am amazed at how much you've gotten done. What amazing friends you have to help! We were just talking about how horrible it was to have all Gracie's stuff still in boxes, and the house NOT clean, no food to be found anywhere, when we came home from the hospital. Donnie ran about like a mad person, scrubbing base boards and dusting, since I was trying to recover from surgery. Preparedness is a wonderful thing...it's better to have too many lists than none at all.
