Yeah, It's That Exciting...

Ok - I haven't left the house for a full 168+ hours. (That's 7 days for those of you not as intrigued with math puzzles as I am...)

Which leads us to another Nokia Cell Phone Pic Post. This might become a trend because I don't have another doctor's appointment until Tuesday at 4:10pm. Which will mean I will have been on the couch/bed for 262 hours (and 10 minutes!) before I leave the house again.

Just IMAGINE how boring I can get by that point!!!

Yesterday you got to see "The Dogs" collection of my cell phone pictures. I'll save you from the "New Haircut Self-Portait" collection for now. (We'll revisit that at the 223 hour mark...). There is one other mini-theme. The "Theft of the Civic" episode of September 16, 2008.

This first picture is of Jonathan in front of the Civic after it was found two weeks after being stolen. I tried to make him pretend to cry to add a little drama to the situation. However, he was so pissed off at the moment, all I could get was a slight glare. I think the evil glare might even have been directed toward me at that moment.

I am jumping ahead of myself though. So when the car was found, I was at work (about 20 minutes away from the Civic dumping ground). Jonathan was also at work - also about 20 minutes away. I received a desperate phone call from Jonathan saying that the police had found the car and we had 20 minutes to get there before it would be impounded. Jonathan had taken the Civic key off of his keychain, so he went home first to get the key. Luckily I was able to speed away from work right then...but in my rush I missed the entrance to I-5 and got really flabbergasted trying to get turned back around, knowing I needed every moment possible.

Anyway, I did finally find the car, and the police officer was still there. He just took my name and phone number and said I was free to take it from there. All of the windows were rolled down, the car will filled with dry leaves, cigar butts, carpeting and blue prints for someone else's house. But it didn't seem wildly trashed or anything...I was happily surprised.

Before the officer left, he and I had the following conversation:

Officer: By the way, the ignition is all jacked up.
Me: Oh yeah?
Officer: Yeah, there's a pencil in the ignition.
Me: Oh yeah?
Officer: I'm sure you can just start the car with the pencil and take it to your car shop.
Me: Oh yeah?
Officer: Good luck. Peace out!

And about 5 minutes later Jonathan arrived and our conversation went something like this:

Me: The ignition is all jacked up.
Jonathan: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah, there's a pencil in the ignition.
Jonathan: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah, the police said just to start the car with the pencil.
Jonathan: I don't know how to start a car with a pencil.
Me: I got the impression that you just have to twist it like a key.
Jonathan: .........

For future knowledge, twisting a pencil in your car's ignition will not lead to the desired result of a running engine. Especially when the battery has been disconnected, the catalytic converter has been stolen, and the plug in the gas tank has been pulled and all gasoline has been drained.

Moral of the story is: Have you ever seen a pencil in a car's ignition? Check it!

You forgot part 2 of the story when Jay and I wait for the tow truck and figure out who it was that stole your car! :)

This whole situation really sucks, Katie. I can't believe the cop just left; what if J hadn't shown up? What were you supposed to do if the pencil DIDN'T work? Did he test it first or something? I don't know...maybe he needed to leave...I am just so sorry this happened. Cars become part of our families when we've had them for a long time. So many memories! Ps...loved your comment on my blog. The Mike's tasted horrible. Baby Barack will have to be conceived with a pricier drink, I think. Blech!
